Email Terms

1. Messages you request

When you sign up, you ask PorchPing to send email alerts about reviewed local government agenda items matching the communities and topics you choose. Messages may also include private account-access links, confirmations, support replies, important service announcements, and legally required notices.

For eligible agenda emails, we may send one reminder at least 24 hours after the original email is accepted for delivery if no briefing visit is recorded and the meeting is still upcoming. Reminders start only after your first seven days and never change your interests. A missing visit does not mean you did not read the earlier email. Pause or unsubscribe to stop reminders along with other optional alerts.

Message frequency varies with your choices and the records published by monitored public bodies. Some weeks may have no matching alerts; busy periods may produce several. PorchPing is not an emergency alert system.

2. Your choices

You may pause or change agenda alerts through your private preferences page. You may stop optional alert emails through the unsubscribe link in an alert or by contacting [email protected]. We process opt-out requests promptly and no later than required by applicable law.

After you stop optional alerts, we may still send messages needed to give you requested account access, respond to you, protect the Service, confirm a change, or provide legal notice. An unsubscribe request does not prevent you from later asking to resume alerts.

3. Delivery and accuracy

You are responsible for providing an email address you control and keeping it current. Delivery can be delayed or prevented by email providers, filters, network conditions, or incorrect contact information. PorchPing does not guarantee delivery of any message or coverage of every government matter.

Email subject lines identify the nature of the message. Agenda alerts include preference and unsubscribe links and point to the relevant official source.

4. Legacy SMS notice

PorchPing does not currently offer new enrollment in SMS alerts or send resident agenda alerts by text. Older account and delivery records may reflect SMS consent from an earlier version of the Service.

If you previously consented to PorchPing texts, you may revoke that consent at any time by replying STOP to a PorchPing text or contacting [email protected]. HELP requests may be directed to the same address. Message and data rates may have applied to legacy messages. We may retain a minimal consent or suppression record to document and honor your request.

5. Privacy and changes

We handle contact information, consent records, and delivery information as described in the Privacy Policy. We may update these terms or the messaging program. If a material change requires new consent, we will request it before sending messages that rely on that consent.

Briefing activity

When you follow a link in a new agenda email and interact with the visible briefing, PorchPing records the email, first and latest observed activity, active days, and which agenda items you interact with. These observations are linked to your account and visible only to the service owner for 30 days after the email is prepared. We then remove the individual observations and keep aggregate totals. We do not import earlier clicks or send these activity records, your identity, or private links to Plausible or Postmark click tracking.

We use this information to understand whether briefings are useful and notice reduced engagement. An interaction does not prove you read an item, agree with it, or want alerts about it; it never changes your selected interests. Automated tools, forwarded links and passive reading can make these observations incomplete or misleading. Pausing or unsubscribing stops new engagement recording. You may request access to or deletion of these records through support.
